Meniscus transplantation involves placing a donor meniscus (the graft is obtained from someone who recently passed away) in a person who had the meniscus removed. The ideal candidate for a meniscus transplant is someone who has undergone a menisectomy and later develops knee pain. Surgery is generally reserved for use in people under the age of 50 years whose body mass index, o IMC, is less than 35.
